Work Injury Information
If you experience an injury while on the job, please follow these steps to ensure proper care, reporting, and compliance with workers’ compensation requirements.
1. Seek Treatment
- Non-Urgent Injuries:
Seek first aid in the school clinic or visit a healthcare provider for necessary treatment. Staff are encouraged to use Concentra, which provides services for work-related injuries. Locations can be found here. Concentra also offers a Telemed option for less serious injuries. - Serious Injuries:
If the injury is life-threatening or requires urgent medical attention, call 911 immediately. Afterward, notify your supervisor or Human Resources as soon as possible.
2. Report the Accident
- Complete a Staff Accident Report:
You must submit an accident report within 24 hours of the incident. The form is located in Public School Works.- Failure to submit a report may result in denial of your workers’ compensation claim, and you could be financially responsible for your medical expenses.
- Notify Your Supervisor:
Inform your supervisor immediately — even if the injury seems minor — as it could develop into a more serious condition.
3. Provide Documentation
- Submit Documentation to Human Resources:
If you receive medical evaluation or treatment, submit documentation to Human Resources — even if the injury initially seems minor. - If Restrictions Are Given:
If your medical provider determines restrictions for returning to work, you must submit documentation to Human Resources so we can evaluate and accommodate your needs if possible.
4. Follow-Up Care
- Follow-up care must be provided by a BWC-approved provider. Failure to do so may result in financial responsibility being placed on the employee. All Concentra locations are BWC-approved providers.
- Human Resources may request follow-up information to ensure proper recovery and determine whether workplace accommodations are necessary.
Our top priority is your safety. If you are injured, seek appropriate care and follow these procedures carefully. If you have questions or need assistance at any step, contact the Human Resources Department.
